Liposculpture involves carefully removing unwanted fatty deposits, sculpting the jawline and the area beneath the chin. Not only does liposuction remove unwanted fat deposits but the treatments also typically results in skin tightening. This results in a more pleasing jaw and neckline.
Liposculpture can be performed under light sedation in the office surgical suite or an ambulatory surgery center. Surgery requires under 1 hour unless combined with other procedures. Liposculpture typically requires one tiny incision hidden beneath the chin and, on occasion, a small incision behind each ear lobe. These incisions are very well hidden by natural skin creases and the ear. Liposuction works by, not only, removing fatty deposits in along the jawline and neckline but also by creating a skin-tightening effect that allows the skin to tighten.
In younger patients with good skin elasticity, it is often possible to fully rejuvenate the jawline and neck with liposuction without the need for more extensive surgery (i.e. facelift). In cases where a facelift is required, Dr. Weber typically includes liposuction to fully sculpture and contour the neckline and jawline.
